Tender roasted asparagus spears are drizzled with a tangy-sweet balsamic glaze and finished with a sprinkle of sea salt for an easy yet elegant side dish.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare Asparagus: Place the trimmed asparagus spears on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly and arrange in a single layer.
  3. Roast Asparagus: Roast in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the asparagus is tender and slightly caramelized at the tips.
  4. Make the Balsamic Glaze: While the asparagus is roasting, heat the balsamic vinegar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vinegar is reduced by half and has a syrupy consistency. Stir in honey or maple syrup for added sweetness, if desired.
  5. Drizzle and Serve: Remove the asparagus from the oven and transfer to a serving platter. Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the asparagus and sprinkle with extra salt, if needed. Serve warm.
