- 1 cup stone-ground grits, soaked overnight
- 4 cups water or chicken broth
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Drain and rinse the soaked grits.
2. In a heavy-bottomed pot, bring water or broth and salt to a boil.
3. Slowly stir in the grits, reduce heat to low, and simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Once the grits are tender and creamy, stir in heavy cream, butter, and cheddar cheese.
5. Season with black pepper to taste and serve hot.
