Superpower Blood Test Review: Menopause symptoms or something else?

Managing your health as a woman in midlife often feels like a guessing game where every symptom is blamed on hormones. When I started feeling off, I had to ask the question that so many of us eventually face: is it menopause or something else? I decided to look for answers through a Superpower blood test review because I needed more than just a standard annual physical. As a diabetic, I am used to getting labs quite often. I know what my baseline looks like, but the shifting landscape of menopause makes everything feel different. I wanted to see if this platform could provide the clarity my regular specialists sometimes miss.

More biomarkers than my endocrinologist usually orders

The sign up was straightforward. To be transparent, I got basic testing for the purposes of a review, but I wanted to see if the experience was worth the time. The app works really well and was incredibly easy to use. I had my draw scheduled in just a few minutes and then filled out a bunch of medical informtion.

I caught a brutal case of bronchitis and had to push the whole thing back. I was worried it would be a headache to reschedule, but the concierge team was great about it. They did not just move the appointment; they actually checked in to see how I was feeling. It felt like talking to a real person who got that life happens. When I finally made it to the lab, everything went fast. I have been stuck with needles plenty of times for my diabetes, so that part was old hat.

When the Superpower blood test review caught a red flag

About two weeks later, my results hit the app. Most things looked exactly like my labs from three months ago (thankfully with some improvements), which was reassuring, but my CO2 level was high. The Superpower team messaged me before I even had a chance to look at my results.

I did follow up with my PCP and confirmed the high CO2 was just a lingering gift from the bronchitis. Having that context right away was huge. It turned out that because I had just been sick, my body was still leveling out. That kind of proactive communication is exactly why I wanted to do a Superpower blood test review in the first place. It is not just about the having the data. It is about having someone actually look at it and tell you what is normal for your specific situation.

Sorting out the menopause swamp

For the peri and menopause crew, we know the drill. You feel tired, your brain is foggy, and you are pretty sure you are losing your mind. The easy answer is always perimenopause or menopause. But when you are also managing diabetes, those symptoms are tricky. Is my blood sugar off, or is it my estrogen? Having a panel with 100 markers means I can see the whole picture at once. It helps me stop the guessing game (and honestly ignore a lot of those TikTok videos about this hormone and that vitamin). If my metabolic markers are steady but I still feel like a swamp monster, then I know the conversation needs to move toward hormone support.

The app gives you a health score and a biological age. I landed at 75 for my health score an 55.2 for biologial age, which is higher than I would like (I just turned 49). It is like a solid B minus with room for improvement. With menopause completely wrecking my previously controled diabetes, I’m not really surprised (but I’m on new meds showing losts of improvement.)

The biological age bit is pretty interesting. It uses the PhenoAge algorithm, looking at nine specific markers like glucose and creatinine to see how your body is actually holding up. For someone like me who has been managing several chronic conditions for years (I also have hEDS and mild disautonomia), seeing that my biological age is actually not that much higher than my real age felt like a massive win. It is proof that the hard work of managing my health is actually paying off. And of the biomarkers out of range, they were items I expected to be out of range (thank you menopause for raising cholesterol that was previously perfect).

The fine print on data and privacy

One thing we should talk about is where your data goes. These companies are not the same as your local hospital system. They have their own privacy rules. Superpower is open about using de-identified data for research, and if the company ever gets sold, that data is part of the deal. I know for some of you, that is a hard no. For me, I weighed the risks against the benefit of getting these deep insights and decided it was worth the trade. You just have to be comfortable with how much of your health history you are putting out there.

The app does a decent job of explaining what you are looking at. Instead of just a bunch of confusing medical jargon, it tells you what each marker actually does through their AI chatbot. This is a big deal if you are not used to reading labs every month. I especially liked how they show optimal ranges versus standard ranges. Most lab ranges are based on white men and not women and minorities, so it’s important to also do your own research and speak with a doctor if you are in one of those groups.

Getting more for your money

The $199 price point for an annual membership is competitive and not that much more than what I would pay out of pocket for standard annual labs, but with more info included. I have seen other companies charge $500 or more for a similar deep dive. You get the labs, the doctor review, and the concierge support all bundled in. For someone trying to fine-tune their health or figure out why they feel like garbage, it is a solid investment. It is about the same as what you might spend on a few random supplements that you are not even sure you need. There are also additional add-on options for additional fees. I’m planning on getting more labs done at a later time after some time on my new meds. I’m especially interested in the Metabolic Panel and the Gut Microbiome.

They also have a feature for connecting your wearables, like an Oura ring and Apple Watch. I am a fan of my watch, so seeing that data live alongside my blood work is the goal. Blood work tells you what is happening in a single moment, but your wearable tells the story of your daily habits. When you see how a bad night of sleep or a stressful week actually impacts your internal chemistry, it makes it much easier to stick to your health goals. It turns out the data does not lie even when we try to convince ourselves we are doing fine.

Having a team in your corner

The support did not stop after that first CO2 scare. Being able to message the team with questions as things change is a game-changer. This is so important for those of us in the middle of the menopause transition because things change fast. What worked for me last year might not be the right move today. Getting a quick response instead of waiting weeks for a specialist appointment makes the whole process feel less lonely. It feels like you actually have an advocate.

If you are feeling a bit lost with all the health tech options out there, I get it. It is a lot. But Superpower seems to have found a sweet spot. They give you enough data to be dangerous without making it so expensive that you can’t justify it. And because they work with the big names like Quest and Labcorp, finding a place to get your blood drawn is usually pretty easy. It takes the friction out of the experience.

Owning your health story

The biggest takeaway for me is that we do not have to wait for our doctors to catch up. If your current physician is only checking the basics, you are only getting half the story. Taking these results into your next appointment changes the dynamic. You are not just asking for help; you are bringing the data to the table. It allows you to have a much more productive conversation with your endocrinologist or your OBGYN.

I appreciate that the people behind the scenes seem to care. Even the automated messages felt like they were written by a human. During my bronchitis phase, having a team that felt like they were in my corner made a difference. It is rare to find that kind of high-touch service in healthcare today. Knowing someone is watching your results and ready to flag anything weird gives you a certain level of peace of mind that is hard to put a price on.

Long-term health optimization strategies

I am already thinking about my next set of labs. Now that I have a baseline with Superpower, I can start tracking trends. I want to see if the changes I am making to my routine actually show up in my inflammatory markers or my A1C. Health is not something you just fix and forget; it is a constant series of tweaks. Whether you are navigating menopause or keeping an eye on a chronic condition, more information is always better.

Most people get blood work done once a year and never look at it again. By making the data easy to read and act on, we can start treating our bodies like the complex systems they are. I do not have to wonder why I am tired anymore. I can look at the numbers and see if it is my blood sugar, my thyroid, or just a lack of sleep. That kind of clarity lets you stop guessing and start taking the right actions.

My take on the testing process

If you are on the fence, think about the value of your time and your sanity. Investing in a comprehensive panel gives you a clear roadmap. It tells you exactly where you are and what needs work. My experience with the team showed me that they can handle the curveballs life throws at you. They caught the anomalies, explained the results, and kept the process moving even when I was sick.

The road through midlife is bumpy. There are no two ways about it. But having a service like this makes the ride a little smoother. I am glad I pulled the trigger on the membership. It gave me the proof I needed that I am on the right track with my diabetes and gave me a head start on managing the new symptoms that come with age. If you are ready to get serious about your health and stop the guessing game, this is a path that actually leads somewhere.

I am excited to see where they go from here. Adding things like imaging and genetic data will only make the picture clearer. We deserve healthcare that looks at us as individuals, especially as women. Moving away from the old school, one size fits all model is long overdue. Your blood has the answers; you just need a better way to hear what it is saying. My Superpower blood test review experience was exactly what I needed to feel back in control.
