Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how long it is retained, and the choices you have when you visit Waddle and Cluck.

Who We Are

Our website address is https://waddleandcluck.com. Waddle and Cluck is a digital magazine covering homesteading, gardening, cooking, animals, and self-sufficient living.

Information We Collect

Information you provide

If you subscribe to our newsletter, contact us, or submit a form, we may collect your email address, name, message, and any other details you choose to provide. Newsletter subscriptions are voluntary.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, we and our service providers may collect device and usage information such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring and visited pages, general location, screen size, language, timestamps, clicks, scrolling, form interactions, advertising identifiers, and cookie or similar-technology identifiers.

We use this information to operate and secure the site, understand readership, improve content and usability, display and measure advertising, prevent fraud, remember form activity, and meet legal obligations.

Services and Providers We Use

MailerLite newsletter, forms, and popups

We use MailerLite to host signup forms and popups, maintain our subscriber list, and deliver newsletters. MailerLite processes the information submitted through those forms on our behalf. Forms may also store records that remember whether a popup was shown or a form was submitted.

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops future newsletters, although an unsubscribed record may be retained to honor that choice and prevent accidental resubscription. If you ask us to permanently erase your subscriber information, we can use MailerLite’s Forget function; MailerLite states that forgotten subscriber information is fully deleted within 30 days.

Google Analytics through Site Kit

We use Google Analytics through Google Site Kit to understand traffic and how readers use the site. Google Analytics may collect first-party cookie identifiers, pages viewed, events, approximate location, referrer, and device and browser information. User-level and event-level data is retained for the period configured in our Analytics property, which Google permits us to set to 2 or 14 months. Standard aggregated reports may be available longer.

You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser.

Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with the site through heatmaps, click and scroll information, diagnostic events, and session recordings. Clarity uses pseudonymous identifiers and cookies to connect page views. Sensitive form fields are masked by default.

Clarity retains session playback data for 30 days. Click and heatmap data and sessions that are labeled or favorited are retained for 9 months, after which Microsoft states that the data and backups are deleted. You can use the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tool to opt out of Microsoft advertising and Clarity telemetry, or enable Global Privacy Control in a supported browser. Clarity supports Global Privacy Control but does not currently respond to the older Do Not Track signal.

Ahrefs Web Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics for aggregated traffic measurement. Ahrefs collects page and referrer URLs, browser and device information, language, screen size, city-level location, and interaction events. It does not use analytics cookies or persistent visitor identifiers.

Ahrefs processes the IP address and user-agent information to create a daily pseudonymous visitor ID. It states that the raw IP address is discarded and never stored with analytics data, and that the random salt used to create the daily identifier is deleted every 24 hours. This prevents Ahrefs from recognizing the same visitor across days.

Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense and its advertising partners to display and measure advertising. Google and participating vendors may use cookies, pixels, IP addresses, device information, and advertising identifiers to deliver ads, measure performance, limit repeated ads, prevent fraud, and, where permitted, personalize advertising based on visits to this and other websites.

You can manage personalized ads through Google My Ad Center and opt out of many participating companies through the Digital Advertising Alliance. Opting out of personalization does not remove advertising; it changes how ads are selected.

Cloudflare

Cloudflare provides content delivery, caching, security, traffic management, and bot protection. Cloudflare may process IP addresses, security and request information, and strictly necessary cookies to route traffic and protect the site. For example, its __cf_bm bot-management cookie expires after 30 minutes of inactivity, while challenge and session-cookie duration depends on the security feature involved. See Cloudflare’s cookie documentation.

Affiliate links and embedded content

We participate in affiliate programs, including the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click an affiliate link, the partner may use cookies or similar technologies to record the referral. We may earn a commission from a qualifying purchase at no additional cost to you. These relationships do not determine what we write about; see our Editorial Guidelines.

Articles may also include videos, images, social features, or other content from third-party websites. That content behaves as if you visited the provider directly and may allow the provider to collect information, use cookies, or monitor your interaction under its own policy.

How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information for money. We share information with the service providers described above when needed to operate, protect, analyze, monetize, and communicate through the site. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights or users, or in connection with a business transfer.

Providers may process information in the United States or other countries. Their privacy terms and legally recognized transfer safeguards govern those transfers.

How Long We Retain Information

  • Newsletter information: kept while you remain subscribed. An unsubscribe record may remain to honor your opt-out. A valid permanent-erasure request made through MailerLite’s Forget function is completed within 30 days.
  • Microsoft Clarity: recordings for 30 days; click and heatmap data and labeled or favorited sessions for 9 months.
  • Ahrefs Web Analytics: no persistent visitor identifier; daily identifier salts are deleted every 24 hours, and raw IP addresses are not stored with analytics data.
  • Google Analytics: user-level and event-level data for the configured 2- or 14-month period; aggregated reports may remain longer.
  • Advertising, security, affiliate, and embedded-content data: retained according to the relevant provider’s settings and policy.
  • Direct inquiries: kept only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain business records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.

Your Choices and Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also withdraw newsletter consent at any time.

  • Use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter.
  • Use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, Google My Ad Center, or the Digital Advertising Alliance links above.
  • Enable Global Privacy Control in a supported browser. Microsoft Clarity recognizes this signal.
  • Block or delete cookies through your browser. See our Cookie Policy for more detail.
  • Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of information we control.

We may need to verify a request and may retain information when required for security, legal, tax, fraud-prevention, or recordkeeping purposes.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices, providers, or legal obligations change. The effective date below shows the latest revision.
